Orientation Lock/Unlock ($.99)
Current Release: v1.1 (7/30)
Upcoming Release v 1.1.1

NOTE: Android OS only allows the user to lock orientation in the Portrait Mode because Android is an operating system that is designed to be used in portrait. This app and any other app is not capable of locking a device in landscape mode with the current and previous Android versions (up to 2.2). It is on the manufactures whether to support locking a phone in landscape or not (such as raising the keyboard on the Motorola Droid) and even then, an app that is launched may not have landscape support and will still show up in portrait mode. Therefore, this app is designed ONLY to toggle the "Orientation" or "Auto-Rotate" setting that is accessible by the user in the phone settings - display menu and NOT to lock the device in whatever mode it is in when the user launches the app. Please comment and rate accordingly.
Android Infinity has just released its 9th
application, "Orientation Lock/Unlock". With this Android App you can
now long press the "Search" button on your phone or the App's Icon from
the homescreen or launcher to change your screen auto-rotate setting at
any time and in any app. This will either lock the orientation to
portrait/upright mode or unlock it to switch back and forth between
portrait and landscape freely.
From the Market:
"Change your screen orientation lock setting on the fly!
Are you tired of having to navigate through settings menus to lock or unlock your Screen Auto-Rotate?
Tired of laying on your side and having the phone go to landscape mode?
Just long press the search key or touch the shortcut and this changes the setting for you!"

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD Orientation Lock/Unlock ON YOUR PHONEUsage Instructions: You can activate the app in two different ways. The first is to long press the search button on your phone and select "Lock Orientation" (if this doesn't work or launches a different app you can change the default settings by going to "Settings" - "Applications" - "Manage Applications" and press the "Clear Defaults" button for the app that ran when you pressed the search key.) The other way is to press the "Lock/Unlock Orientation" icon in your launcher/app drawer.
FOR DROID X and DROID 2 OWNERS:
It has been confirmed that the Droid X and Droid 2 have software limitations that prevent this app from being able to function correctly (Long pressing the search key only launches the Voice Search). This is due to the custom user interface called "MotoBlur" that is present on these devices. Currently there is no fix for this but hopefully a software update from Motorola in the future will resolve those issues. This app is fully functoinal on the original DROID running 2.1 and 2.2 however.
